From Plastic to "Paper"! Introduction of Functional Materials for Reducing and Eliminating Plastic [Case Studies]

We introduce a biodegradable plastic alternative that is easy to dispose of and has functions such as transparency, water dispersion, deodorization, texture, moisture absorption, and water resistance.

This is an introduction to environmentally friendly materials primarily made from plant-derived sources such as wood pulp. By using "paper" as a base, we can increase the biomass content, and with thin and low-density technologies, we can also achieve labor and resource savings. We will introduce a range of products that leverage these technologies, along with examples. ■ Heat Seal Paper As an alternative to soft packaging films, it can be heat-sealed directly without lamination. The transparent "Papicrystal" is well-received. ■ Water-Soluble Paper Packaging Can be used as an alternative to water-soluble PVA films. It disperses quickly even in cold water, making handling such as printing and storage relatively easy. ■ Deodorizing Sheet A sheet-type deodorizing material that oxidizes and decomposes unpleasant odors. It is based on bulky, highly breathable paper, enhancing deodorizing effects by utilizing the fine structure of the fibers. ■ Non-Woven Fabric Alternative Sheet A sheet developed to bring the texture closer to "fabric," which can be used in various scenarios by providing water resistance. ■ Water Absorbing Paper Made from 100% wood pulp. It enhances the swelling properties of the pulp fibers, improving water absorption. ■ Japanese Paper Mulch An alternative to black mulch for agricultural use. It can be disposed of not only as general waste but also can be buried for disposal, taking advantage of its biodegradability.
